Edythe Jacobson was born April 20, 1920 to Harvey and Beatrice Hunter of Esmond, ND. and passed away September 3, 2015 in Spokane, WA. She graduated from Esmond High School in 1938. Edythe married Lennart Jacobson in July of 1940. They moved to Spokane in October, 1942 where they raised their 3 daughters.
Edythe was active in her church, Bethel Church of the Nazarene, for over 70 years. She worked in the Deaconess Hospital ER for over 25 years, retiring in 1985. Edythe began working outside of the home because it was important to her that her daughters go to college. All three of her daughters, three sons-in-law, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild have attended/graduated Northwest Nazarene College/University.
Preceded in death by her husband Lennart, son-in-law Jerry Dirkse and five siblings, Edythe is survived by her three daughters Adele Dirkse of Leavenworth, WA, Linda (Glenn) Thompson of Tacoma, Bea (Dale) Shafer of Spokane, nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, October 3rd, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Bethel Church of the Nazarene, S.1111 Thor Street. Memorial gifts may be made to Bethel Church of the Nazarene.
