
[br][br]Carl Johnson, 75, lost his battle against dementia and diabetes on Feb. 5, 2014.
Born in Portland, OR Sept.17, 1938, Carl grew up in Cathlamet, Wa. After completing his education at WWU, he was employed as a Safeco insurance adjustor in Seattle and Spokane. In 1964, Carl moved to the Washington D.C. area, where he worked as a Capitol policeman and a teacher at Capital High School in D.C.
Carl and his wife Kathleen (Kitty) Rydell were married in Spokane. Returning to Spokane in 1968, Carl and Kitty raised two sons. He then became a sales rep for Colgate Palmolive, followed by a teaching job in the Spokane County Jail, working for Spokane Community College. This job, his most meaningful, lasted 21 years until his return to Cathlamet. During his Spokane stay of 34 years; he was an avid runner, completing 21 Bloomsdays.
Carl and Kitty returned to Cathlamet in 2002. In 2006, they relocated in Tumwater. WA to be closer to family.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Katherine, brother Henry (Hank) and sister (Mary Ann).
He is survived by his wife of 47 years; Kitty, their sons Mike and Chris, 4 grandchildrens, and numerous other family members.
There will be a funeral service for Carl at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Cathlamet April 16, 2014 at 1:00p.m..
