
[br][br]Howard G. Miller, 84, of Spokane Valley, WA. passed on December 15, 2015 at Valley Hospital due to complications from a fall.
Howard was born to Loren H. and Margaret Miller in Twin Falls, Idaho on November 12, 1931. He earned his BS in Biological Sciences from OSU, then his DVM degree from WSU. While attending WSU, he met his wife of 58 years, Carole M. Shannon and they were married in 1956. After graduation, he joined the Army as a 1st Lt. and they lived in California where they enjoyed the many lifelong friends they made. He left the military and in 1960, started his successful Veterinary practice in Millwood. Howard supported his community by being president of many educational and veterinarian boards throughout his life.
Howard and Carole had 3 children, James Miller, Diana Stobie and Becky Olsen. He loved taking his family fishing, skiing, boating and on family vacations.
Guns and flying were a passion for Howard. He was a flight instructor for years and flew whenever possible. Another hobby was shooting guns where he competed in the Sharp Shooters Club. He also loved to travel and visited Australia and New Zealand with Carole after retirement, then spent 6 weeks with his daughter Becky in Italy in 2014.
Howard is survived by his daughters, Diana Stobie, Becky Olsen and his sister Joan Smith as well as many grandchildren. He will be missed by so many. He was a father, mentor, teacher and friend. He lived a full life and we were blessed to have him in our lives.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:15 pm, Friday May 20th at the WA State Veterans Cemetery, 21702 West Espanola Rd, Medical Lake, WA 99022.
