CONANT, EVELYN E

[br][br]Evelyn was born and lived her entire life in Spokane. She was extremely proud that she attended and graduated from Rogers High School in 1944. Upon graduation Evelyn worked as a Weather Observer with the National Weather Service and was a Stewardess for Northwest Airlines. After flying for three years and while back in Spokane between flights Evelyn met John Conant who was playing baseball for the Spokane Indians. They were married in 1949. Much of Evelyn's adult years were either focused on family or service and activity in the community. She was a den mother, Girl Scout leader, taught Sunday school, and was active in PTA. She loved her association with the Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce, the March of Dimes, the Miss Spokane Scholarship Program, the Davenport Hotel and of course her great love for all things having to do with the Lilac Festival. Evelyn was elected into the Rogers High School Walk of Fame and loved to support and participate in the reunions. She loved her family and loved to serve. Evelyn was preceded in death by her brothers, Bob and Roy Hawke, Sister Doris Winger, her husband John Conant Jr and her son John Conant III. She is survived by her daughter in law Margi Conant, daughter Molly Conant and her son and his wife Bill and Shauna Conant, eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held for Evelyn at the Pines Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 12116 E. 16th Ave. Spokane WA 99206 on Saturday March 5th 2016 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers please consider making donations to the Spokane Humane Society.
