Joyce Lee Ostby (Robertson) died on November 25th, 2015 at the Hospice House after living with MS for the past 16 years. Joyce was born in Spokane, WA on September 28th, 1940 to Archie and Laurel Robertson. She graduated from North Central High School in 1958, and later from Eastern Washington University. She married James Ostby in 1960. She was a social worker for the State of Washington for 30 years. She later earned her Master's Degree from Whitworth University. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren Jasper and Stella Marsh. She loved dogs and trained them in obedience, tracking, rally, and agility. She was an AKC obedience judge and traveled across the Northwest participating in shows. She was active in the Greater Spokane Shetland Sheepdog Club, and often fostered Shelties in need, many of which were eventually adopted by her. Joyce loved Christmas, Bloomsday, Neil Diamond, Bud Light, Pepsi, skiing, watching ice skating and sewing. She was sarcastic and funny, and wasn't afraid to cuss. She was brave and she will be missed. Joyce is survived by her daughters Lori Bryant (Ric) and Jami Ostby Marsh (Jordan), and sister Judy, all of Spokane. She was preceded in death by her husband James in 1994. There will be a celebration of life at 11:00 on December 19th, 2015 at the Spokane Dog Training Club at 2620 N Locust Rd in Spokane Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her honor to SCRAPS (Spokanecounty.org/scraps) or the National MS Society (nationalmssociety.org/donate).
