[br][br]Barbara Adair McCray, age 66 of Spokane, WA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, six-months after a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Her family and friends will miss Barb's loving spirit, her generous heart, her positive outlook on life, and her devotion to family. Throughout her journey with cancer, Barb remained hopeful and kept her faith. She was an inspiration to all who met her.
A 1967 graduate of Shadle Park High School, Barb continued her education at Eastern Washington University where she received her BA in Education. In 2011, Barb retired from a 33-year teaching career. Upon her retirement she spent her time traveling with friends and enjoying her grandchildren. She was very active and loved being outdoors.
Family and friends were Barb's passion and delight. In 1971, Barb married her high school sweetheart, Douglas McCray. The two remained best friends throughout their marriage, until Doug went home to be with Jesus in 1997. They had two daughters Erika and Allison. The family loved vacationing on the Oregon Coast and spending summers up at Priest Lake, ID.
Barb leaves behind her daughters, Erika (Jacob) Mullins and Allison (Corey) Still, along with six precious grandchildren, Emily, Lily, Lindsey, Kinley, Torii, and Kenton, her boyfriend Bob Windham, her father Lloyd (Fran) Brusseau, her brother Bill (Joan) Brusseau, brother-in-law Dick McCray, brother-in-law Bob (Tessa) McCray, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Barb will be greeted in Heaven by her husband Doug, her mom Zelpha Brusseau, her in-laws Charlie and Kay McCray, her sisters-in-law Joan Leach and Lois McCray, and her niece Kelly McCray.
Thank you for all your prayers and helping hands these last six months. A memorial service and reception for Barb will be held at Spokane First Church of the Nazarene, 9004 Country Holmes Blvd on Tuesday, October 27th at 4:30 p.m. Please join us in celebrating Barb's life. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the McCray Grandchildren Benefit Fund set up at any STCU branch.
